School visits Wednesday
Learning in practice; how VET in the Netherlands is connected to work life through cooperation with industry and other outside organisations, practice at school and apprenticeships / placements.
Vocational education in the Netherlands is intertwined with the world of work. We offer ‘working and learning’ (80% working, 20% school) and ‘full time’ (25-50% internship, the rest school) study routes. Education at school is as much as possible based on real life examples from work life and many companies/organisations support education in the classroom with practical examples, guest lecturers, materials, or equipment. In some cases, whole class rooms or workshops are created at companies to provide real life learning. During the school visits delegates will learn more about VET in the Netherlands and of learning in practice in particular at three different VET schools: ROC Mondriaan will focus on technical courses, ROC Midden Nederland on hospitality and tourism and ROC Aventus on health care.
Optional study visits (choose from 3 schools) during the trip will a short introduction the Dutch horizon for VET
