On this our 25th Anniversary Conference let us celebrate the Quality of VET in action and explore how Quality can be further embedded in all aspects of our activities – both at strategic level and operational/delivery levels.  Quality takes many forms and should form the driver for improvements in VET.  Quality starts by putting the Learner first; at the heart of everything we do;

How do we raise the Learners experience?

There are so many aspects to this debate but all have an influence on quality; on perceptions; on learners motivation.  Conference will encourage participants to share good practice in a range of areas.

  • How do VET institutions promote high esteem and attractiveness of VET opportunities?
  • How do VET institutions implement new teaching and learning methodologies to create a stimulate ing, motivating and inspirational learning experience e.g.:  Co-creation as a methodology;  innovative learning environments ; harness digital technologies; build partnerships with stakeholders to promote Aprrenticeships and meaningful work related opportunities?
  • How can Internationalisation assist in promoting quality and opportunity in the learner experience – what is the value added?
  • How can ECVET; EQF and other European tools support quality in VET?
  • How can VET institutions support and up skill their teachers and trainers – they are our most valuable resource? Let us share approaches to Continuing Professional Development?

Key note presentations will be complemented by interactive focus groups on a variety of related and key priorities facing VET institutions. These will offer delegates the opportunity to share approaches and methodologies drawn from across Europe and sharing good practice models of engagement through case studies and good examples.

This year the focus groups will take a slightly different format, more in the form of focus groups tackling specific aspects of each topic and identifying potential solutions to meet the challenges.

Focus groups will include the following topical issues facing VET institutions:  Each will consist of small working teams, transnational in nature, to explore key sub topics.  delegates will be encouraged to actively participate in sharing good practice.

  1. The Learning space – impact on learning – motivation / creativity / innovation – ensuring Learners have transferable skills and ability to adapt to change – new skills demands. Co-creativity as a model – exploring the learning environment on the quality of the learner’s experience.
  1. Entering the Digital era of learning – a new skills agenda for Europe: Digital skills are essential to perform in all sorts of jobs, work processes and everyday life in a digitalised economy.
  1. Adult training as an answer to skills demand: The role of VET institutions ad stakeholders in driving the skills agenda taking in to account the need to re-train and up-skill not only new entrants to the labour market but existing employees. This focus group will also look at the need to raise the skill levels of all Adults including migrant populations – how do we ensure opportunity for all.  Share good practice, approaches from around Europe in this regard.  What engagement strategies work
  1. Changing tasks of Teachers and TrainersChanging tasks of teachers, changing attitudes and behaviour of learners. Teacher vs. Coach?  What are the implications for Continuous Professional Development – what actions will lead to change and how will this impact on Quality?
  1. Internationalisation and its importance in Quality VET: How to make Erasmus+ and other international activities a strategic driver in the VET college. How does Internationalisation and improved transnational mobility for learners and staff impact on Quality of VET with in an institution?  What does Internationalisation bring to curriculum change?  How best do we ensure added value in this regard?
  1. Implementing ECVET and European Tools: An exploration of the impact. – an exploration of the impact of these and other initiatives on improvements in VET across Europe? How best can we work with the tools in a VET college? What are their strengths and weaknesses?

In addition, members and delegates are invited to disseminate their European partnership project outcomes and results to a wide audience through the Round table sessions and promote their innovatory development initiatives.

Conference will continue to be highly interactive, providing considerable opportunity to network and find new partnerships. By popular demand, the mobility marketplace is back providing delegates with a forum session to meet prospective new partners in the promotion and implementation of transnational mobility (Erasmus + Key Action 1) and share ideas and partnership (under Erasmus + Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnership).  This session will enable potential partnerships to come together and provide time and space for exploring new project initiatives and networking.

The City of Valencia

Spain_location_map.svgThe city of Valencia is the capital of the “Comunidad Valenciana” and the province of Valencia. It is located in the middle-east of Spain, on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. The city is considered the third largest city of the Spanish State, according to its population rate, 1.500.000 inhabitants.

The province of Valencia has an area of approximately 10,807 km². Inland, you can find mountainous areas whilst on the coast the land is completely flat, and has many beaches as well as La Albufera, the largest lake in Spain and one of the most important wetland areas in the Iberian Peninsula.

Valencia was founded in the year 138 B.C by the Romans, who established their Forum in the Plaza de la Almoina, under which lies today a museum of Roman ruins. After the Romans, the Visigoths arrived in Valencia but in 714, the Muslims established control of the city, a situation that lasted until 1238 when King Jaime I of Valencia ousted them. The Arabs left a profound legacy with their irrigation systems, recipes and artistic influences that are relevant and noticeable right up to the present day.
