Dana Bachmann joined the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission in January 2015. As Head of unit in charge of VET, Apprenticeships and Adult Learning she is responsible for working together with Member States, social partners and stakeholders for developing and implementing policies that help empower citizens with the skills they need, so they can play an active role in society, and improve the effectiveness, quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training and adult education. Part of the mandate is also coordination and management of relations with the Center forVocational Education and Training, CEDEFOP.
Prior to joining DG Employment, she served as head of unit in DG Education and Culture being responsible for the same policy areas. Before joining the Commission in December 2011, she worked as a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights (2008-2011), the European Court of Justice (2007- 2008) and she managed regional projects in the field of environmental law in Central and Eastern Europe (2000-2007).
Born in Romania, Dana Bachmann has a bachelor degree in European Law from the University Paris I, France and a Bachelor Degree in Law from the University of Bucharest. She also obtained a Masters degree in International relations, Conflict Analysis and Resolution and a Postgraduate Degree in International Relations.
