Founded in 1775 Kuopio is a modern city surrounded by beautiful nature. Much of Kuopio is developed on islands, on third of Kuopio is water and half forest. The population of the city is approximately 119.300. About 600.000 people live in the city’s catchment area. Kuopio region encompasses a vibrant city, with a diverse economy and an internationally recognised university, and one of the country’s biggest year-round travel destinations within the same municipality. Kuopio has many well-known features and landmarks, most notably the Puijo Tower and the vibrant Market Square surrounded by shops. Kuopio is a welcoming city in the heart of Lakeland.

Kuopio is accessible by major water and rail routes as well as air service. Industry is centered on wood products, textiles, and machinery. It is a tourist center for the Savo lake and forest country, and nearby Puijo hill is one of Finland’s best skiing centres 

Sightseeing – Eat & drink

City center and its surrounding are full of restaurants and cafes. There are several top quality restaurants to choose from as well as cozy meeting places. You can also enjoy foods and drinks made from local ingredients. Northern Savo area is also famous of excellent distilleries in Finland. The region’s best natural products include lake fish, forest berries and mushrooms. Don’t forget to try our famous “kalakukko”.

From Kuopio Airport by taxi

Plane: from Helsinki airport you can take a connect flight to Kuopio airport. You can find more information on Finnair page.  From the Kuopio airport there will be bus transportation to the hotel during the conference, make sure to reserve this in advance. More information of this will be given closer to the event. All flights from Helsinki to Kuopio are run by Finnair.

From Helsinki Airport by bus/train

Train: if you fly to H­­elsinki airport you can take a taxi / train / bus to the main railway station which is located in the center of Helsinki. From there you take a train to Kuopio railway station, which takes about 4 hours. You can find more information here:

Welcome & Registration desk

practical info meeting 1 Registration starts at 08.00 on Wednesday 27th October 2021, with the conference scheduled to start at 13.00 sharp. Please collect your delegate badge and conference bags and material from the registration desk on arrival, which will be the main information point for the event and will be manned throughout 3 days.

Welcome reception at 19.00 to 20.00 followed by dinner.

Conference Registration Fee

The registration fee includes attendance at the conference, all materials (documentation and welcome package), coffee breaks, the pre-conference reception and dinner on Wednesday 27th October, the lunches on Thursday and Friday, the reception on Thursday 28th October, the Gala Dinner on Friday 29th October, the lunch and excursions on Saturday 30th October for participants. The fee does not cover travel and accommodation expenses.

The Roundtable sessions at EfVET International Conference in Kuopio introduce a procedure structured into 3 phases. EfVET offers European projects the opportunity to disseminate progress, results and products of project outcomes and sustainability Conference delegates to walk around and quickly gain an overall understanding on all initiatives presented. 3 sessions of 30 minutes each.
